Fly Drive - The Grand Maritimes Tour

At Hooked on Canada Holidays we have a wonderful range of fly drive tours in Canada. We are proud to introduce this fabulous Canadian Maritimes experience. Day1– Halifax Skyline Nova Scotia
Arrive into Halifax and pick-up your rental car.   Maybe you have time to discover the thrilling region of Halifax and its surroundings.

Day 2 – Halifax to Western Shore 47 miles 75 km
On your way to Bridgewater, you will have the opportunity to explore the scenic Lighthouse Road. This itinerary is famous for the Peggy’s Cove Lighthouse, its rugged coastline, its quaint fishing villages as well as for the historic towns of Lunenburg and Mahone Bay.

Day 3 –  Western Shore to Digby 97 miles 155 km
The journey takes you to the valley of Annapolis which is sprinkled with rich orchards and even vineyards. Founded by Samuel de Champlain in 1604, the historic area of Annapolis Royal is known as Canada’s oldest settlement.
 
Day 4 and 5 –  Digby to St-John 26 miles 42 km + ferry
Today you take the Digby ferry towards the charming city of St-John. The place recalls the old cities of Great-Britain. Take also advantage of the occasion to drive by St-Andrews, a famous resort founded by the Loyalists.

Day 6 and 7 – St-John to Moncton 98 miles 156 km
Take advantage of these two days in the “Acadian Capital” to discover the Fundy National Park and the famous Hopewell Rocks which are literally sculpted by the highest tides in the world. You will also have the opportunity to visit Shediac and the Magnetic Hill.

Day 8 –  Moncton to Summerside 87 miles 139 km
On your way to the Confederation bridge that will take you to the Prince Edward Island, you’ll ride across the Acadian coast. The smallest Canadian province offers you the charm of its hilly shores sprinkled with quaint fishermen villages and some magnificent lighthouses. The island is also well known for its sandy beaches as well.

Day 9 – Summerside to Charlottetown 39 miles 62km
Discover the Victorian charm of this peaceful provincial capital.

Day 10 – Charlottetown to Pictou 40 miles 63 km + ferry
Back to Nova Scotia by ferry where you’ll then drive north towards the legendary Cape Breton Island.

Day 11 – Pictou to Cheticamp 163 miles 260km
You'll then drive towards the legendary Cape Breton Island

Day 12 - Cheticamp to Ingonish 67 miles 106km
Discover the picturesque Ingonish area and admire the fabulous seascapes while driving along the famous Cabot Trail.

Day 13 – Ingonish to Sydney 88 miles 142km
Before leaving Cape Breton Island, we suggest strongly that you visit the exceptional Louisbourg fortress. The “New World Gibraltar” will literally take you back to the New France era!

Day 14 – Sydney to Halifax 250 miles 400km
Back in Halifax, enjoy the animation of this pleasant harbour city.

Day 15 – Halifax
Departure time and goodbye to the Atlantic Islands.

  • Sea Kayak Cape Breton: Discover north east Cape-Breton Island and its wonderful seascapes along with a skilled guide. You will be equipped with all the material you need for this excursion.. 3.5 hours
  • Lobster Discover : Navigate the Shediac Bay for a lobster fishing excursion. You will participate at every step, learn how to cook it and you will be delighted by a delicious lobster meal. 2.5 hours
